Staying connected at Grace is essential for encouragement and growth as the body of Christ. Here you will find many ministries and volunteer opportunities that will help you along your spiritual walk. Serving others is the biggest example Christ showed us while He was here on earth. It is our job to fulfil his commission and preach His name to others! Come join us in serving others in our ministry.

Children

AWANA

AWANA is our biggest Children's Ministry here at Grace. We have a place for every age group: 0-2 years Nursery; 3-5 years Cubbies; K-2 Sparkies; 3-6 Grade Truth and Training; 7 Grade and up Trek. AWANA meets Sunday nights at 6 pm. It is a program where kids can learn Scripture and participate in the Regional Bible Quiz that is held every year, play games and show their abilities in Regional AWANA games, and have a lesson which helps them understand God's Word. Awana helps our church and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children who faithfully follow Jesus Christ. For more information visit awana.org.

(Elementary School, Grades K-5): After instilling fundamental truths about God’s relationship with us, we want to take Elementary age children to the next step of answering the question, “How does this apply to me?” We will help answer this question by focusing on a specific virtue each month throughout the year. By the time a child enters sixth grade, we hope to have instilled in them the following truths, “I need to make the wise choice”, “I can trust God no matter what”, “I should treat others the way I want to be treated”. 252 is every Sunday Morning at 10:30 AM.

Kelly Kids Club

Each Monday afternoon during the school year, a group from Grace volunteers at Kelly Elementary doing a After School Bible Club. During this time we actually get to take God's Word into the school and share with the children about God's love for them! This is a wonderful time to interact with the children. We sing songs, have a Bible lesson, Missionary lesson, Scripture Memory, and a Snack and Craft time. This is a wonderful way to share the Gospel in our Community!

Friday Night Kids Club

Friday Nights during the School year, Grace has a wonderful outreach lead by college students from Tabor University. This outreach is bringing in a large number of children and young people into church to eat and to have a safe environment to hang out at on a Friday Night. These college students have a heart for children and are anxious each week to come and show God's love to these children.

Students

The teen years mark a key transitional stage in life. Moving from childhood to adulthood is an upheaval! But God uses times of change to bring great growth. That’s where the Student Ministries staff comes alongside parents—helping young men and women know God intimately, read His Word accurately, share and defend their faith, serve others, and develop deep relationships.

We are CHAOS: Christians Hyped About Our Savior. We meet twice a week, Sundays at 9:45 am and Wednesdays at 7:00 pm. CHAOS is led by Tyler and Katie O'Donnell and Brandon Layton. Here, teenagers will find out what it's like to be hyped about being a child of God and how they can impact others for Christ.

Wednesday, December 21st is our Christmas Party! Come join us as we have fun playing games and remembering the birth of our Savior!

The Good NewsThe reason we're here is to tell you about Him.Everything we do as a church, and the reason we exist in the first place, is because of God's gift of forgiveness through his son Jesus. More than anything else, we want you to know that God loves you and has a plan for your life!Many spend their lives trying to earn God's approval by following rules, attending religious services, or being a good person; the truth is that the only way to a fulfilling life and an eternal future in heaven is through a relationship with Jesus Christ.1) God loves you.John 3:16"For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life."Ephesians 2:4-5 "But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God's grace that you have been saved!)"2) You are a sinner.All persons are "sinners" in that they disobey God. Sin is choosing to go your own way and do your own thing as opposed to being obedient to God.Isaiah 53:6 "All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God's paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all."Romans 3:10"As the Scriptures say, 'No one is righteous - not even one.'"3) Sin separates you from God.Sin forms a barrier that prevents you from entering into unbroken fellowship with God, Who is holy. As an unholy sinner, you can't have fellowship with God. You are headed for a Christless eternity that the Bible calls Hell.Isaiah 59:2"It's your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore."Romans 3:23 "For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard."4) You can't save yourself.People often think that through their efforts they can overcome the sin barrier between themselves and God. That isn't true. There's nothing you can do to restore the broken relationship with God. You can't earn God's salvation.Ephesians 2:8-9"God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it."Titus 3:5 "he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit."Romans 4:4-5 "When people work, their wages are not a gift, but something they have earned. But people are counted as righteous, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners."5) God sent His son Jesus to remove the sin barrier.What you cannot do for yourself, Jesus Christ has done for you! Your sin is a barrier between you and God. But the Good News is that Jesus died on the cross for you and then rose from the dead to demonstrate that His payment was acceptable to God. By taking your punishment on Himself, Jesus made a way for relationship with God.1 Peter 2:23 "He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly."Romans 5:8"But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. "2 Corinthians 5:21"For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ."Romans 10:9"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."6) You can receive Jesus Christ through faith.Faith is trusting in what Jesus has done for you rather than trusting your own efforts to restore fellowship with God. Faith is complete reliance on Christ to put you in right relationship with God, allowing Him to live His life through you. Faith also involves repentance or genuine sorrow for sin and willingness to turn away from sin.John 14:6"Jesus told him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me'"Acts 16:31"They replied, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.'"Romans 10:9-10"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved."7) Through prayer you can trust in Jesus Christ.Admit to God that you are a sinner. Express sorrow or repentance for your sinfulness. Ask Him to forgive your sins. Invite Jesus into your life as Savior and Lord. History

Grace Baptist Church was founded in 1955, by Dr. Michael & Marcella Schepis. We are fortunate to have had only two Senior Pastors here at Grace as we continue to follow the lead of Dr. Michael O'Donnell. Grace Baptist Church is a fellowship of believers who desire to experience God's love and guidance. We pray that God will continue to bless our church and see His glory shine throughout all of Wichita.Looking out the front door of our original building all you could see was empty land. Many people were moving to Wichita to work in the aircraft industry. Over the years we have seen not only business' grow around us, but we have enjoyed many opportunities for ministry. God has allowed us to have a wonderful facility that has ministered to thousands of people throughout our history! It has been a thrill to see so many people come to know Christ as their Savior over the years. We have been able to celebrate many victories because of the faithfulness of God's people. As we celebrate God's blessings every day, it is important to remember that He wants to still do greater works in the lives of His people.

January is Stewardship Month

Five Life-Giving FactorsOnly God brings life to dead things. But here are five lessons I learned that I believe contributed to our church’s revitalization as we head into Stewardship Month. 1. Inward transformation drives external change.Just as external moralistic changes cannot transform the human heart, so external changes to a church’s programs or structures cannot revitalize a church. You might as well try to bend a metal rod without first heating it. It will either resist change altogether or simply snap in two. Internal change in the believer happens only through the preaching of the gospel. People become willing to extend themselves to reach others as they learn more about God and what He has done. There is a time to push change and a time just to preach Jesus. It takes wisdom to know what to do when. 2. Do not under estimate the power of momentum.It is easier to change churches that are growing, just like it is easier to steer a bike that is moving. In any organization, including a church, momentum can provide the capital you need to purchase change. Sun Tzu, author of the 2500-year-old military classic Art of War, said that momentum is a general’s most valuable ally. Small armies can win great victories if they know how to build it. You might consider focusing first on changing those things that are hindering the church from growing. When growth is happening, you’ll find it easier to change the other things. As people experience the joy of new believers being born into their midst, they become more willing to shift away from what is comfortable for them and into what is effective at reaching others.3. Beware of fighting battles that lead you nowhere.We sometimes forget its not about winning battles; its about leading people. The Apostle Paul seemed to understand this. Sometimes, he let people malign his character; other times, he defended his apostleship. Sometimes, he brought himself into conformity to the law; other times, he publicly rebuked those who refused to embrace their freedom. His grid for engagement was what was strategic for the mission (1 Cor. 9:19-27; Gal. 2:11-15). Of course, this does not mean we ever tolerate open sin or substantial doctrinal corruption in the church. It just means that we fight the right battles at the right times.4. Create a sending culture.In my opinion, creating a sending culture is essential to revitalizing a church. Churches that are revitalized see themselves as communities on mission with God, not as country clubs for Christians. One very practical thing you can do to encourage this mentality is to send as many people on short-term mission trips as possible. Few things open our eyes to missional living like spending time with missionaries. 5. Lead your people to yearn. The French mystic Antoine de Saint Exupéry once said, If you want to build a ship, dont drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work, and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea. As people yearn for the salvation of the world, they will not only put up with the changes you propose, but will probably instigate a few of their own as well. Thats when the church is really revitalized. Again, it is the preaching of the gospel that creates this yearning. The gospel makes us stand in awe of Jesus, who was rich, yet for our sakes became poor. It moves us to pour ourselves out for others as he has poured himself out for us. The gospel awakens people from their middle-class slumber to follow Jesus as he seeks and saves the lost. It moves them to love the poor, the stranger, and the outcast. The gospel teaches us to see the world through the lens of the compassionate God demonstrated at the cross and revealed in the resurrection. The gospel fills us with audacious faith, making us (in the words of William Carey) expect great things of God and then attempt great things for God. The gospel makes us yearn to see the glory of God cover the Earth like the waters cover the sea. It gives us a passion for his kingdom that outweighs our comfort with the status quo. This year at Grace we are working to develop momentum by reaching one family at a time. Will you join us in making in making a difference in our community?

It allows you to give consistently... even when you're not at church. 4. It allows you to focus on the service when you're at church... no more digging for a pen right before the offering.Q: How do I give online? 1. First you need to create an account. You can do this by clicking the "Give Online" button at the top of the page. 2. The "Give Online" button will popup the online giving window. 3. Follow the instructions in the popup window and register to give recurring tithes. Q: Why did nothing happen when I hit the "Give Online" button? The "Give Online" button pops up the online giving dialog window.If you are using a pop-up blocker such as the Google Toolbar, Norton Internet Security, or Pop-Up Stopper, the window will not open. Most browsers also have an internal popup blocker that can be enabled or disabled. In order to use interactive features you will need to allow pop-ups for this site.Q: When would this automatic contribution be charged to my account?On the signup screens, you can specify whether you want your contribution made one time, weekly, or monthly. You can set up as many schedules as you would like, so it is possible to give a monthly gift as well as a weekly one.Q: Can I test this by giving one time?Yes. You may test Online Giving by selecting Express Giving.Q: How can I keep a record of the amount I have contributed?At any time you can view your record of "online" giving. Just go back to the online giving page and use the Give Online button to open the online giving pop-up window. Your giving history will be under your account once you sign in.Q: I have created an account, but I don't see my giving history?Once you create an account online, we need to link your web account with your existing contribution account. Please allow 3-5 days for this feature to be active. From that point, you'll be able to view your contribution history each time you log in.Q: Can I give online to Missions?Yes. Online giving is actually more secure than checks or cash. With this system, you wont have three or four different people processing your paper checks or cash. As soon as you click the link below you enter a secure, fire-wall protected server that is not available to the public. From there, your gift is electronically transferred directly to Grace's bank and the information about your transfer is sent directly to Grace's internal records.
